At the end of our three-day
stay in the context of the Comenius meeting, we had a free day at our disposal to see something of the city itself.
When we took the tube to go to Buckingham Palace, we made sure to make a detour to King’s Cross Station to see Platform 9 ¾ (famous because of the “Harry Potter” series, and took some (non-magical) good photos like this:
Another rather funny stop we made was a not well-known
landmark:
There is a tube station that is called "Sloane Square".
On account of Ms. Sloane, getting off there was a must and we took this
photo:
In the end, we followed our original destination, which was to get to Buckingham Palace.
Ms. Waltz took full responsibility about
leading us there, until she suddenly stopped and complained
about no one noticing that we
had walked in the wrong
direction for full thirty minutes! Fortunately,
there was a bus stop close by.
We ran to catch an approaching
bus, which we boarded after a few friendly words had been exchanged with the driver.
How stressful!
However, we did make it to Buckingham Palace after
all:
Afterwards, we had some time to ourselves. My group went to Big Ben, The London Eye, Tower Bridge and Westminster Abbey. We saw monuments, statues, monuments, statues – there simply is no end of sights! That’s hanging out in London for you!
But, what's that???
At the close of the day,
our delegation had dinner in an Italian restaurant at Leicester Square, where I noticed Ms.
Waltz having obviously problems writing
a message to the Spanish delegation on her mobile…
I kept smiling and couldn’t resist sending secretly
her a text message myself...
